Creating and Using Worklist Subscriptions

Introduction

Subscriptions are a way to select any unread Worklist or unread Global Worklist in order to pre-cache the images of up to 10 studies. Pre-caching images significantly reduces the wait time sometimes associated with the retrieval of archived images. If you work remotely, or the network you use has low bandwidth, this feature will be especially useful.

Prerequisites

Before you can use the Subscriptions feature, the following settings must be as follows:

• Ensure that the Hybrid Mode option is enabled in User Settings. See Configuring Synapse for Hybrid Mode.
• Add the Subscriptions status column to the Worklist page. See Modifying Worklist Column Options
• Add the server name as a Trusted Sites to Internet Explorer/Edge IE Mode. See Configuring Internet Explorer   or Configuring Edge in IE Mode   for more information.
• Optional: If you want relevant priors to be cached along with the current Subscribed study, ensure that the Auto Compare option is enabled in User Settings. See Configuring Auto Compare

Note:

The Subscriptions feature is only supported in Internet Explorer/Edge IE Mode. The Subscriptions feature caches the images for a maximum of 10 current studies, as well as their relevant prior studies. The default number of cached studies is set to five. Relevant priors are defined by the user’s auto-compare rules. See your System Administrator for further information about the number of current studies that Synapse pre-caches. Synapse caches studies based on the order of the currently saved Worklist. Priors are cached with the same priority as the current exam. You can subscribe to only one Worklist at a time, selecting from any of the unread Worklists or unread Global Worklists available to you, including QBE Worklists and Global QBE Worklists created from an unread Worklist.

Subscribe Steps

1. Select the Worklist you wish to subscribe to, and right-click to open the context menu.
2. Select the Subscribe option.

• Synapse displays this icon to let you know the images are caching. It is replaced by the icon shown below as soon as the first study and its priors are cached.
• Synapse displays this icon next to the cached subscription folder so you can easily identify your subscribed Worklist.
• Cached studies display the icon. Cached studies that also exist in other Worklist display the icon.

Note:

If you subscribe to a Worklist that contains both large and small studies, a smaller study may finish caching before the larger study.

Unsubscribe Steps

1. Select the Worklist you are currently subscribed to, and right-click the context menu.
2. Select the Unsubscribe option.
3. Optional: To change your Worklist subscription to another Worklist, follow the steps to subscribe. The previous Worklist subscription will automatically end when you select a new Worklist subscription.
