Configuring Annotation Settings

Introduction

Synapse provides several save options for annotations.

  • You can automatically display previously saved annotations when you open a study. By default, Synapse enables the Enable annotations setting.
  • You can also change the measurement unit, the number of significant digits that display in a measurement, and the Standard Uptake Values (SUV).  

Steps

  1. To access User Settings, do one of the following:

Complete these steps...

Open User Settings from the Viewer.

Right-click User Settings .

Open User Settings from the Worklist.

Click  User Settings on the Worklist toolbar.

Open User Settings from PowerJacket.

Click  User Settings on the PowerJacket toolbar.

  1. Click Image Display and do any one of the following:

    If you want to do this...

    Choose this option...

    Display a message if you have any unsaved annotations in a study when you close a study.

    Select Prompt.

    Save changes to annotations in a study without displaying a message when you close a study.

    Select Don't prompt, and save.

    Ignore any unsaved changes to annotations in a study without displaying a message.

    Select Don't prompt and don't save.

  2. Under Image Display, select Annotations.
  3. Do any of the following in the Annotations panel:

    Choose this option...

    Hide saved annotations when you open a study.

    Clear Enable annotations.

    Note: Enabling or disabling this setting does not affect the display of AI GSPS annotations.

    Enables the initial display of 3rd party GSPS annotations when you open a study. By default, the GSPS Enable Annotations setting is on.

    Clear Enable GSPS Annotations to disable the setting.

    Note: Enabling or disabling this setting does not affect the display of AI GSPS annotations.

    Automatically bookmark an image when you add an annotation.

    Note: If you do not save the annotation, Synapse removes the bookmark.

    Select Enable Auto Bookmarking.

    Select a different default measurement unit.

    Select a measurement unit in Default length units.

    Change the number of significant digits displayed in the length, area, and density measurements.

    Note: The number of significant digits is the same for length and area versus density. However, if the length or area measurement is more than 10, the decimal point of the length or area measurement is the setting minus one. See the following examples:

    Length and Area Example:

    If you have the length measurement of 12.314, Synapse displays the following:

    • For a setting of 3, Synapse displays 12.31.
    • For a setting of 4, Synapse 12.314.

    Density Example:

    • For a setting of 3, Synapse displays 12.3.
    • For a setting of 4, Synapse displays 12.31.

    Select the significant digits in Precision of display number:

    • 3
    • 4

    Change the SUV Correction method for PT modalities.

    Select the SUV type from the drop-down list for SUV Correction method.

Results

Synapse automatically saves any updated options and displays the following message in the bottom left corner of the window: Successfully saved.

Synapse displays the following message to alert you that an action must be taken for the settings to apply: Refresh the Synapse browser window for settings to apply.
