Cine Overview

Introduction

Cine is a Synapse tool that plays images of a selected series like a video at the playback rate specified in the DICOM header, or at a specified default rate if header information is unavailable. You can also set an image playback rate within the range of 0.5 fps to 60 frames per second (fps).

When the DICOM header for an image file specifies fps, cine mode defaults to the fps rate coming from the image acquisition device.

If no frame rate is defined in the Study, the default cine frame rate is set to 24 fps for MG modality, 31 fps others. In addition, when a user changes the frame rate value for a study of a particular modality, their selection is retained as their default for that modality going forward. Note that if the study specifies a frame rate in its DICOM header, the specified value will always be used rather than a default.

Multiframe

When a multiframe indicator displays on images, those images are part of a multiframe series (a multiframe series is comprised of multiple images that are all part of one file). Clicking the multiframe indicator starts cine and displays the cine toolbar.

Cine can be used with both multiframe and non-multiframe series.

See Configuring Multi-frame Series Auto Play.

Note:

Cine is available for all viewports, but only one cine instance can be active at a time. However, if you enable IntelliScroll and then use cine on a series that you enabled IntelliScroll on, Synapse scrolls all the series that you enabled IntelliScroll on. See Enabling IntelliScroll.
